first steps towards freedom from fear

Hello people,

I am a documentary filmmaker, writer and journalist living in the Indian capital.

Not that one has not seen enough 'shock and awe' in life, especially over the past few years, I was totally destabilized as the Mumbai trauma unfolded.

The most disturbing aspect was that one felt helpless and unable to do anything about it. FEAR overtook every aspect of being.

Got me thinking about FEAR.

We live in fear. Fear of almost everything. Some real and some creations of our mind as it reacts to the times, to our own experiences.

Fear of the future in the times of recession. Fear of things not working out as we want them to. Fear of failure.

And. Fear of a bomb going off, a stray bullet of terrorists and security men engaging each other hitting us, even as we set about doing our rituals and routines.

My husband lives and works in a war torn country. My teenage son studies in a city where local politicians excel in vitiating the atmosphere along communal, regional lines. And I am fearful for both of them.

As for me, all I ask of life is a space of peace where the mind is free to create all that it wants.

In calling forth security and safety for my family, I call forth, them and me being FREE to excel in whatever we take on. Being free to make a difference to our world.

They say that you and me, we all create the reality we live. We are the cause in the matter of our lives. We manifest our world, and hence, are responsible for it.

Waking up to this on the morning of November 28, I decided to take this on. To take on 'FREEDOM FROM FEAR'.

I have lived in Pakistan for five years and have experienced the people there first hand. They are you and me.

I need you on board the campaign 'Freedom from Fear 2008' and invite you to share your views on what 'Fear' is, what life is I the shadow of fear. And life could be if it was Free of Fear.

Especially for our children, the generation next.

Not reacting and fighting... not for judging and correcting…. but definitely creating a new, different world.

The idea is to enroll all my friends and everyone possible in the process.

And working with this synergy, create a small presentation for kids and youth and take it to as many schools and colleges as possible.

There is a lot to do. Lets' begin.
